LOCAL FIRM GIOIOSA DESIGN WINS
2006 AMERICAN GRAPHIC DESIGN AWARDS

SOMERVILLE, Mass., October 18, 2006 –Gioiosa Design, a Boston-based graphic design firm specializing in corporate design services, was awarded two prestigious 2006 American Graphic Design Awards. The firm was awarded for the Massachusetts Audubon Society North Shore Program Catalog, and for a series of three imaginative self-promotional postcard mailers. The 44th Annual American Graphic Design Awards is highly regarded by designers and draws thousands of entries each year.

Gioiosa Design’s work will be featured in a 300-page Annual, circulated in December, to readers of Graphic Design USA. The Annual
will be distributed at trade shows and events throughout the year. Additionally, the pieces will be listed on the magazine’s Web site, www.gdusa.com , —and are eligible to win a showcase on the corporate site of Adobe Systems Incorporated,  a sponsor of the
design awards.

“It is a great pleasure to accept this award on behalf of the team at Mass Audubon, with whom I have been working since 2004,” said Richard Gioiosa, principal and creative director of Gioiosa Design. “I have always been keenly interested in environmental issues, so having Mass Audubon as a client really touches an area of deep meaning for me. It makes me proud to say that I have contributed to the goals of Mass Audubon through my design work.” The winning catalog, “Mass Audubon Program Catalog—North Shore Wildlife Sanctuaries” is published thrice yearly and features a four-color cover and black and white interior.

In speaking of his trio of self-promotional postcard mailers Gioiosa said, “Designing graphic pieces for one’s own business can be a challenge. I had to step out of my role as creative consultant and really take a hard look at what makes Gioiosa Design different from other firms. Ultimately everything came together, and this award demonstrates that good design is based on a thorough, honest evaluation of a business and its’ customers.”  The trio of mailers, “We’re Listening”, “One-on-One” and “Sit Back & Relax” featured lively and colorful up-close photographs that convey the firm’s style of personal, consultative and comprehensive client service.
